Hawkeye Pricing

Pricefx vs. Hawkeye Pricing

Pricefx is a cloud pricing platform for large manufacturers and distributors. Your pricing team, usually with a consulting partner, configures it to manage price lists, optimize prices, quote and run rebates. It is SAP’s endorsed pricing partner.

Both Pricefx and Hawkeye now talk about AI agents. They mean different things. Pricefx’s agents find issues inside its platform and pass them to your pricing team. Hawkeye’s agents find the price, write out the reason, and put it in your ERP once you approve it.

If you have a pricing team that wants a platform to run, Pricefx is built for that. If you don’t, Hawkeye does the pricing work for you.

What is Pricefx?

Pricefx is a B2B pricing software company founded in Germany in 2011, with its US headquarters in Chicago. Ronak Sheth has been CEO since 2022. It is venture-backed: its last funding round was $65 million in 2020, led by Apax Digital, for $130 million raised in total. Third-party estimates put it at a few hundred employees.

Its products, sold as modules of one platform:

  • Price Management runs list prices, price lists and approvals.
  • AI Optimization recommends list prices and deal terms inside the limits you set.
  • Quoting is CPQ with pricing guidance and approvals.
  • Agreements & Promotions, Rebates and Channel Management cover customer agreements, rebate programs and distributor claims.
  • Pricefx Agents, launched in July 2025, are 125 prebuilt agents that look for margin leakage, discount problems and upside. Pricefx’s own FAQ says they don’t change prices: they “identify, quantify, and prioritize findings” for your team. They run inside a Pricefx instance, on your data loaded into Pricefx.

Named customers include Ford, Milliken, Calumet and Profi Parts, a European auto parts distributor with 1.6 million SKUs.

Pricefx pros and cons

Pros

  • One platform for price lists, optimization, quoting, agreements and rebates.
  • Very configurable. Reviewers’ top praise is flexibility.
  • Close SAP ties. Pricefx calls itself SAP’s only endorsed pricing partner.
  • A Leader in Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for B2B pricing and rebate software in April 2026, and in IDC’s 2025-2026 MarketScape.

Cons

  • Built for a pricing team to run. Its agents report findings. People still decide and make the price changes in Pricefx.
  • No published pricing. One review site puts it at $50,000 to $150,000 a year, plus $100,000 to $200,000 to implement, and says it rarely pays off below $50 million in revenue.
  • Implementation takes 6 to 12 months, per that review site. Pricefx says under six. It says the “vast majority” are run by partners like Accenture and Deloitte.
  • Reviewers’ most common complaints are implementation complexity and the learning curve.
  • SAP is the only ERP on its integration page. It names no connector for Epicor, Infor or Microsoft Dynamics.

Why distributors pick Hawkeye over Pricefx

  • At one distributor we work with, one in four customer prices hadn’t moved in a year. Where cost rose under them, margin fell a median 4.6 points. How we measured it.
  • Nothing for your team to configure. We set up the agents for how you price. You set the floors and caps.
  • The agents don’t stop at a finding. They set the price inside your floors and caps and write it to your ERP when you approve it.
  • Every SKU and every customer gets checked every night, including the long tail nobody has time for.
  • You see results on your own invoices before you buy anything.
  • You pay on margin added, not for a license.

When to look for a Pricefx alternative

  • You don’t have a pricing team, or yours is one person.
  • A first year north of $150,000 doesn’t pencil out for a company your size.
  • You run Epicor, Infor, NetSuite or Abas, not SAP.
  • You want price changes you can approve.
  • You want to know if it works before an implementation project starts.

Questions about Pricefx and Hawkeye

What is Pricefx?

Pricefx makes cloud pricing software for B2B companies: price management, AI price optimization, quoting, agreements, rebates and, since 2025, AI agents. It was founded in Germany in 2011, has its US headquarters in Chicago, and is backed by Apax Digital and other investors.

How much does Pricefx cost?

Pricefx doesn’t publish prices. Data Tool Index, a software review site, puts the subscription at about $50,000 to $150,000 a year, plus $100,000 to $200,000 one-time to implement, for $150,000 to $250,000 in the first year. It says Pricefx rarely pays off for companies under $50 million in revenue.

How long does a Pricefx implementation take?

Pricefx says customers go live in under six months. Data Tool Index says 6 to 12 months is typical, usually with a consulting partner. Pricefx says the vast majority of its implementations are partner-led.

What do Pricefx Agents do?

Pricefx launched 125 prebuilt agents in July 2025. They look for margin leakage, discount problems and pricing upside, and rank what they find with the revenue and margin impact. Pricefx’s FAQ says they don’t change prices or make decisions without people. They run inside a Pricefx instance, on your data loaded into Pricefx.

Is Pricefx a good fit for mid-sized distributors?

Pricefx describes its customers as enterprise manufacturers and distributors, and most of its reviewers on G2 work at companies with more than 1,000 employees. SAP is the only ERP on its integration page, and it expects a pricing person to run it. A distributor on Epicor, Infor or NetSuite without a pricing team should ask how the data gets in and who runs it day to day.

How is Hawkeye Pricing different from Pricefx?

Hawkeye reads your ERP every night and gives your team a short list of specific price changes, each with the reason written out. Approved prices go back into the ERP. It doesn’t do quoting, agreements or rebates. You pay a one-time setup fee, then a share of the margin that shows up on your invoices, instead of a license.

Won’t my sales reps just override the new prices?

Reps override prices they don’t understand, and big jumps get the most attention. Hawkeye makes small changes and explains each one. At our first customer, the typical approved change is about 5%, and the same price can’t move again for 30 days. We brought their reps into the process early, and we haven’t seen pushback.

How do I know why Hawkeye recommends a price?

Every recommendation comes with its reason and the numbers behind it: a cost that rose under a price that didn’t, a margin well under similar items, a competitor charging more for the same part. “It can’t just be a number,” one distributor told us. Otherwise reps are “just going to decide the computer doesn’t know anything.”

Is Hawkeye’s margin share forever?

No. Hawkeye’s share of the margin from each approved change runs for 12 months. After that, the margin from that change is all yours.

When is Hawkeye the wrong choice?

When you’re a manufacturers’ rep and the manufacturer sets your prices, when you quote every order, or when your costs barely move and one catalog update a year keeps up. It’s also the wrong tool if your main problem is reps discounting on quotes. See when Hawkeye is the wrong choice.

What are the alternatives to Pricefx?

Companies looking at Pricefx usually also look at Vendavo, Zilliant and PROS, whose B2B business Conga bought in 2026. Mid-size distributors also look at SPARXiQ, epaCUBE and Hawkeye Pricing. See all nine options compared.
