PROS (now Conga) vs. Hawkeye Pricing

PROS sold its B2B pricing business to Conga, a quoting and contract software company, in February 2026. PROS kept its airline business. The B2B products are now Conga Price Optimization, Price Management, Rebate Management and Smart CPQ.

The software is built for big companies with a pricing operations team: AI price guidance on every deal, price lists, rebates and quoting. If you run PROS today, your vendor changed this year. Conga hasn’t published a roadmap for the former PROS products.

Hawkeye’s AI agents do something else. Every night they read your ERP, find the prices worth changing, and write out the reason for each one. You approve the ones you agree with, and they go back into the ERP. You don’t need a pricing team.

What is PROS?

PROS was a Houston pricing software company with two businesses: airline revenue management and B2B pricing. Thoma Bravo took it private for about $1.4 billion in December 2025 and split it in two. The airline side stayed PROS, now called PROS Travel. The B2B side went to Conga, another Thoma Bravo company, on February 2, 2026.

PROS’s CEO, Jeff Cotten, and its chief product officer, Sunil John, stayed with PROS Travel. Conga is run by Dave Osborne and says it has more than 10,000 customers, most of them for quoting and contract software. The PROS name is gone from the B2B products, and pros.com now sends B2B visitors to conga.com.

The former PROS products, as Conga sells them today:

  • Conga Price Optimization gives AI price guidance for each deal and account, built on your transaction history.
  • Conga Price Management runs price lists, pricing rules, approvals and margin leakage analysis.
  • Conga Rebate Management handles rebate programs, accruals and claims.
  • Smart CPQ is the former PROS quoting product, now sold next to Conga’s original CPQ.

Named distributor customers include DigiKey, Highline Warren and Wilbur-Ellis.

PROS pros and cons

Pros

  • Mature AI price optimization. PROS spent years building deal-level price guidance on transaction data.
  • One vendor for price optimization, price lists, rebates, quoting and contracts.
  • Large distributor references, including DigiKey, Highline Warren and Wilbur-Ellis.
  • Conga was named a Leader in Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for B2B pricing and rebate software in April 2026, according to Conga.

Cons

  • Built for large companies with a pricing operations team. One review site says it will “fail or underperform” below $250 million in revenue.
  • No published pricing. That site put PROS at $100,000 to $300,000 a year, plus $200,000 to $800,000 to implement, with three-year minimums common.
  • Implementations ran 9 to 18 months by that site’s count.
  • A new owner. PROS’s CEO and product chief stayed with the airline side. Analysts say the combination depends on execution, and there’s no public roadmap.
  • Reviewers mention hard setup, a steep learning curve, and trouble getting sales teams to use it.
  • Epicor and Infor aren’t on its integration lists.

Why distributors pick Hawkeye over PROS

  • At one distributor we work with, one in four customer prices hadn’t moved in a year. Where cost rose under them, margin fell a median 4.6 points. How we measured it.
  • The agents do the analysis. Your team gets the price changes and the reason for each one.
  • Every SKU and every customer gets checked every night, including the long tail nobody has time for.
  • Approved prices are in your ERP the next day. A packaging equipment maker approved 60 of 62 at its first review.
  • You see results on your own invoices before you sign anything.
  • You pay on margin added, not for a multi-year license.

When to look for a PROS alternative

  • Your PROS renewal is coming up and you want to know what changes under Conga.
  • You bought PROS for pricing, not quoting or contracts.
  • You don’t have a pricing operations team to run it.
  • You run Epicor, Infor or Abas.
  • You want to see results on your own invoices before you sign anything.

Questions about PROS, Conga and Hawkeye

What happened to PROS?

Thoma Bravo took PROS private for about $1.4 billion in December 2025 and split it. The airline business stayed PROS, now PROS Travel. The B2B pricing business went to Conga, another Thoma Bravo company, on February 2, 2026.

Is PROS pricing software still supported?

Yes. Conga says PROS customers will keep getting support through the integration and beyond. Before the deal, PROS told customers both companies’ products would be “maintained and enhanced, not replaced.” Conga hasn’t announced an end of life for any former PROS product, or published a roadmap.

What is PROS called now?

The former PROS Smart Price Optimization and Management is now Conga Price Optimization and Conga Price Management. Rebates are Conga Rebate Management. PROS Smart CPQ kept the Smart CPQ name and sits next to Conga’s original CPQ.

How much does PROS cost?

Neither PROS nor Conga published prices. Data Tool Index, a software review site, put PROS at about $100,000 to $300,000 a year, plus $200,000 to $800,000 one-time to implement, with three-year minimums common. Those estimates are from April 2026.

Is PROS a good fit for mid-sized distributors?

PROS was built for large companies with a pricing operations team, often on SAP. Data Tool Index says it fits manufacturers over $250 million in revenue and distributors with 50,000+ SKUs and a pricing team. Info-Tech says Conga hasn’t announced a mid-market package. Epicor and Infor aren’t on its integration lists.

How is Hawkeye Pricing different from PROS?

Hawkeye reads your ERP every night and gives your team a short list of specific price changes, each with the reason written out. Approved prices go back into the ERP. It doesn’t do quoting, contracts or rebates. You pay a one-time setup fee, then a share of the margin that shows up on your invoices, instead of a license.

Won’t my sales reps just override the new prices?

Reps override prices they don’t understand, and big jumps get the most attention. Hawkeye makes small changes and explains each one. At our first customer, the typical approved change is about 5%, and the same price can’t move again for 30 days. We brought their reps into the process early, and we haven’t seen pushback.

How do I know why Hawkeye recommends a price?

Every recommendation comes with its reason and the numbers behind it: a cost that rose under a price that didn’t, a margin well under similar items, a competitor charging more for the same part. “It can’t just be a number,” one distributor told us. Otherwise reps are “just going to decide the computer doesn’t know anything.”

Is Hawkeye’s margin share forever?

No. Hawkeye’s share of the margin from each approved change runs for 12 months. After that, the margin from that change is all yours.

When is Hawkeye the wrong choice?

When you’re a manufacturers’ rep and the manufacturer sets your prices, when you quote every order, or when your costs barely move and one catalog update a year keeps up. It’s also the wrong tool if your main problem is reps discounting on quotes. See when Hawkeye is the wrong choice.

What are the alternatives to PROS?

Companies replacing PROS usually look at Pricefx, Vendavo and Zilliant. Mid-size distributors also look at SPARXiQ, epaCUBE and Hawkeye Pricing. See all nine options compared.
