Vendavo vs. Hawkeye Pricing
Vendavo is built for B2B companies that need to control how a large sales team prices: price rules, deal approvals, agreements and rebates. Its customers include Volvo, 3M and Ferguson.
Hawkeye’s AI agents work on the prices themselves. Every night they read your ERP, find the prices worth changing, and write out the reason for each one. You approve the ones you agree with, and they go back into the ERP.
If your margin leaks through discounts on quotes, that’s Vendavo’s strength. If it leaks through thousands of prices nobody has looked at in years, Hawkeye finds them and proposes the fix, with or without a pricing team.

What is Vendavo?
Vendavo is a B2B pricing software company based in Denver, Colorado. It was founded in the late 1990s. The private equity firm Francisco Partners bought it in 2014, and Accel-KKR invested alongside it in 2021. It has roughly 450 employees, by third-party estimates, and says it has more than 200 customers. Sharath Dorbala, who joined in 2024 to run product, is now CEO.
Its products:
- Pricing sets and governs list, customer and channel prices with rules your team configures.
- Quoting and Agreements is CPQ plus customer agreements, from first quote through approval.
- Rebates runs rebate and incentive programs, from its 2022 purchase of Market Medium.
- Analytics shows how price, mix and volume moved revenue and margin.
- Vendavo AI, launched in September 2025, adds four agents: Price Manager, Price Optimizer, Deal Desk and Incentives Optimizer. An AI Pricing Assistant and a rules generator followed in 2026. They work inside Vendavo, for your pricing team.
Named customers include Volvo, 3M, Ferguson, Dell, Medtronic and Emerson. Its distribution case studies include ABC Supply, TruckPro and Cencora. Data Tool Index, a software review site, says it fits industrial distributors with $20 million to $250 million in revenue whose problem is discounting and deal governance. In July 2026 it agreed to buy Model N’s high-tech business, which sells to chip and electronics makers.
Vendavo pros and cons
Pros
- One vendor for pricing rules, quoting, agreements and rebates.
- Built for governance: approval rules, deal desk workflows and margin leakage reports for a large sales team.
- More than 200 large customers, including distributors like Ferguson and ABC Supply.
- Named a Leader in Gartner’s first Magic Quadrant for B2B pricing and rebate software in April 2026, according to Vendavo.
Cons
- Built for a pricing team and a deal desk to run. Its AI agents report to them. People still turn the findings into price changes.
- No published pricing. One review site puts it at about $75,000 a year for a single module and $150,000 to $200,000+ for the suite, with implementation billed separately.
- Implementation takes 4 to 8 months by that site’s count, usually led by a consulting partner.
- Reviewers’ most common complaints are complexity and how hard it is to customize.
- Its integration list names SAP, Oracle, Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics. Epicor, Infor and NetSuite aren’t on it.
Vendavo vs. Hawkeye Pricing, side by side

Why distributors pick Hawkeye over Vendavo
- At one distributor we work with, one in four customer prices hadn’t moved in a year. Where cost rose under them, margin fell a median 4.6 points. How we measured it.
- The agents do the analysis. Your team gets the price changes and the reason for each one.
- Every SKU and every customer gets checked every night, including the long tail nobody has time for.
- Approved prices are in your ERP the next day. A packaging equipment maker approved 60 of 62 at its first review.
- You see results on your own invoices before you buy anything.
- You pay on margin added, not for a license and an implementation project.
When to look for a Vendavo alternative
- You don’t have a deal desk or a pricing team to run a platform.
- Costs moved and thousands of prices didn’t.
- You run Epicor, Infor, NetSuite or Abas.
- You can’t wait 4 to 8 months to find out if it works.
- You want to pay for margin that shows up, not for modules.

Questions about Vendavo and Hawkeye
What is Vendavo?
Vendavo makes B2B pricing software: price rules and management, quoting and agreements, rebates, analytics and, since 2025, AI agents. It is based in Denver, Colorado, and is owned by the private equity firms Francisco Partners and Accel-KKR.
How much does Vendavo cost?
Vendavo doesn’t publish prices. Data Tool Index, a software review site, puts a single module at about $75,000 a year and the full suite at $150,000 to $200,000 or more a year, with implementation quoted separately.
How long does a Vendavo implementation take?
Data Tool Index puts it at 4 to 8 months, partner-led in most cases. G2 lists a typical time to implement of 6 months.
Is Vendavo a good fit for mid-sized distributors?
Vendavo is built for companies with a pricing team and many people quoting. Its named customers are mostly large companies like Volvo, 3M and Ferguson, and its site shows no mid-market edition. Data Tool Index says it fits industrial distributors with $20 million to $250 million in revenue whose problem is discounting and deal governance. Its integration list names SAP, Oracle and Microsoft Dynamics, not Epicor, Infor or NetSuite.
What do Vendavo’s AI agents do?
Vendavo launched four agents in September 2025: Price Manager finds margin leaks and adjusts pricing policy, Price Optimizer models prices, Deal Desk speeds approvals, and Incentives Optimizer models rebate returns. They work inside Vendavo for your pricing team.
How is Hawkeye Pricing different from Vendavo?
Hawkeye reads your ERP every night and gives your team a short list of specific price changes, each with the reason written out. Approved prices go back into the ERP. It doesn’t do quoting, deal approvals or rebates. You pay a one-time setup fee, then a share of the margin that shows up on your invoices, instead of a license.
Won’t my sales reps just override the new prices?
Reps override prices they don’t understand, and big jumps get the most attention. Hawkeye makes small changes and explains each one. At our first customer, the typical approved change is about 5%, and the same price can’t move again for 30 days. We brought their reps into the process early, and we haven’t seen pushback.
How do I know why Hawkeye recommends a price?
Every recommendation comes with its reason and the numbers behind it: a cost that rose under a price that didn’t, a margin well under similar items, a competitor charging more for the same part. “It can’t just be a number,” one distributor told us. Otherwise reps are “just going to decide the computer doesn’t know anything.”
Is Hawkeye’s margin share forever?
No. Hawkeye’s share of the margin from each approved change runs for 12 months. After that, the margin from that change is all yours.
When is Hawkeye the wrong choice?
When you’re a manufacturers’ rep and the manufacturer sets your prices, when you quote every order, or when your costs barely move and one catalog update a year keeps up. It’s also the wrong tool if your main problem is reps discounting on quotes. See when Hawkeye is the wrong choice.
What are the alternatives to Vendavo?
Companies looking at Vendavo usually also look at Pricefx, Zilliant and PROS, whose B2B business Conga bought in 2026. Mid-size distributors also look at SPARXiQ, epaCUBE and Hawkeye Pricing. See all nine options compared.
